Digital Technologies to Support the Decision-Making Process for Dental Implants Treatment Planning

The use of digital technologies by dentistry has primarily grown over the past years, allowing an improvement in dental implant procedures for dental failure correction. The dental implant is complex and non-trivial since multiple variables are involved. Therefore, the integration between dentistry and IT has allowed the creation of expert systems that assist the dentist during the planning and execution stages of the dental implant process. Thus, this research presents the use of digital technologies to support decision-making for dental implant treatment planning. Therefore, based on the concepts and techniques of the implant dentistry area, image processing and intelligent systems systematize the determination of the best implants for multiple failures and the planning of the dental implant process. The preliminary results demonstrate the solution’s potential in finding the best solution for planning the dental implant process.
