A Reference Architecture for Secure IoT

This paper addresses the urgent need for a secure reference architecture in the rapidly evolving field of Internet of Things (IoT). We present a comprehensive strategy for IoT security, which extends the ISO/IEC 30141 IoT Reference Architecture (RA). This approach, reflected in a unique domain-based RA, serves as a robust foundation for different IoT sectors, balancing specific security needs with unified, standard-based practices. The paper details the IoTAC RA’s design, its application in a smart home case study, and future directions for its validation and standardization, underscoring its potential to fortify the IoT security landscape.
