The Architecture of Citizen Science Open Data Repository Based on Version Control Platforms

There is an increasing number of citizen science projects, all with the potential to generate new data at a lower cost and arguably greater value than data generated by expert knowledge. However, access to citizen science data is still mostly limited to case-by-case project maintainers and in different data formats. This study proposes a novel approach to accessing open data by designing a hosted open data citizen science repository. We then propose an approach to bootstrap and maintain that data on a version-controlled platform. As a result, hosted open access data has the potential for better exchange and further reuse of data.
