Building on Bernstein: Legitimation Code Theory

This chapter focuses on Legitimation Code Theory (LCT) and the ways it can be seen as working from within code theory to extend and integrate some of its key concepts in a manner capable of, among other things, supporting the practice of teachers and students. Key concepts from the LCT dimensions of Specialization, Semantics, and Autonomy are reviewed alongside a selection of studies that have utilized them.
