Constructing Pedagogic Discourse: The Pedagogic Device

This chapter focuses on Bernstein’s conceptualization of the pedagogic device and on features of its theorization that distinguish it from other approaches commonly adopted in the sociology of education. A selection of empirical studies that have applied the pedagogic device is reviewed.
