Multimodality Imaging of Right Ventricular Outflow Tract Disease in Adults with Congenital Heart Disease

As care has advanced for adults with congenital heart diseaseCongenital heart disease, interest in assessing right ventricular function, particularly for pathologies affecting right sided structures, has grown. Even for patients with no prior interventions, full assessment of the right ventricle (RV) and right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) can be challenging. It is even more so in patients with extensive prior surgical and transcatheter interventionsTranscatheter interventions. In these patients a multi-modality approach is often indicated to completely assess the cardiac anatomy and quantify RV function. For patients with RV dysfunction from RVOT and PV pathology, pulmonic valvePulmonic valve replacement is an expected long-term consideration. In this chapter, we will review the role of cardiac imaging in patients with pulmonic pathologies, specifically those requiring intervention. We will discuss pathophysiology, review palliative and repair methods, and discuss guideline-based indications for transcatheter pulmonic valvePulmonic valve replacement.
