A Long and Winding Road: Reflections on a Career in Science Policy

Science policy is an exciting and fulfilling career path for those trained as scientists, but the road from Ph.D. to science policy professional can be both nonlinear and nonobvious. This chapter demonstrates that science policy is a field with a wide range of opportunities, where training in science and research can translate into careers across sectors, scientific specialties, and aptitudes. Lessons learned and advice on the pathway into and pursuit of a career in science policy are offered.
