Assessing Consultation with Indigenous Peoples in Brazil

Societal relations in the countries of the Americas have been historically characterized by unequal systems skewed in favour of elites and their governments versus all others living in the territory. For better or for worse, the problems of that part of the hemisphere ‘are more unique than they are universal or European. They can only be solved within the framework of their own legal, cultural, political, and social traditions’.
