The Legal Framework of Consultation with Indigenous Peoples

As one result of contemporary globalization, disputes over indigenous peoples’ territory against the background of the exploitation of natural resources now involve a multiplicity of national and international actors. In the past three decades, the conflicts have intensified engulfing transnational corporations, states, non-governmental organizations, multilateral financial organizations, and transnational financial entities. The conflicts reveal contours of legal, political, and economic aspects that transgress human rights violations.
