Investigating Transient Behavior of All-Optical Switch

The article considers a transient behavior of all-optical switch described using a single-channel finite buffer queuing system with Poisson input flow and exponential service time distribution. To solve the Kolmogorov equations system and find the probabilities of states in transient mode the Laplace transform is used. Analytical expressions for determining the probability of losses and the throughput of all-optical switch at a given point of time are found. The performance metrics of all-optical switch with a buffer size of two packets are analyzed tn the numerical section. The values of probability of losses, the throughput, and the transient time for different network loads in transient and stationary modes are found.
