Nanocarriers: Delivery Routes
摘要
Nanocarriers have crucial applications in medicine, mainly in drug delivery. The choice of administration route assumes significance during the drug development phase, as it influences the effectiveness and safety of the formulation. Different routes of administration offer specific advantages, disadvantages, and precautions for the development of nanoformulations. The efficiency of nanocarriers for delivering drugs intracellularly at therapeutic levels depends on multiple factors, such as particle size, composition, surface characteristics, and shape. Therefore, it is important to carefully evaluate the physicochemical parameters of the nanoparticles and determine their compatibility with the chosen administration route. This chapter aims to explore the most important aspects to be considered in the development of nanocarriers for the primary routes of administration of drug products.
