An analogy is given to the AI alignment problem before we delve into what we see as a similar alignment problem for the field of neurodegenerative research. We talk about the different stakeholders involved before urging more cooperation and a breakdown of the artificially constructed barriers that separate them by encouraging them to rally around patients and their families.
