Prophetic Action, Climate Change, Food Security, and SDG 2 in Africa

  • David Andrew Omona

摘要

This chapter analyzes the prophetic actions by the church in relation to climate change and food security in Africa in light of SDG 2. It argues that as the salt and light of the world, the church’s prophetic role predisposed her to talking forth in regard to issues that are detrimental to the people of God in a given time. Given the outcry about climate change and food insecurity experienced across Africa and guided by the requirements of the SDG 2, the church has the mandate to conscientize the masses so to address the ills of climate change and food insecurity. Of course, this, the church cannot do single-handedly, but rather in collaboration with other stakeholders using established frameworks. Using a non-empirical research approach, the chapter discusses the current prophetic action of the church in relation to climate change and food security, exposes how the church uses the guideline of SDG 2 in this action, and indicates the effectiveness of the prophetic actions in addressing climate change and food security.
