Culturally Appropriate Assessment
摘要
This chapter provides comprehensive assessment techniques in relation to multiple identities and their intersectionality by going back to some of previous experiential learning activities. This time readers approach experiential learning activities with knowledge on asymmetric perceptions (Pronin et al., 2007), neural development of “us” vs. “them” (Moreira et al., 2017), and integrating non-Western perspectives (Falk et al., 2009; Thompson, 2015). The chapter discusses the foundation for accurate assessment which is formulated by integrating linear and nonlinear, affective, and cognitive and scientific and clinical inquiry. The importance of the intake being taken by the provider who is going to provide treatment is emphasized since the intake provides rich information for accurate assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. It reveals the client’s worldview, problem-solving strategies, values, and beliefs, and other lived experiences. Experiential and reflective learning activities are provided for the readers to comprehend with their heart the importance of knowing the client’s worldview.
