A Methodology for Evaluating and Reporting the Integration of Artificial Intelligence for Sustainability in Higher Education: New Insights and Opportunities

摘要

Implementing AI applications in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) was a necessity as recommended by UNESCO, and fostered by Higher Education to leverage AI applications for innovative and engaging learning opportunities that promote critical thinking, resolving problems, cooperation, equipping students with the knowledge and abilities expected to create a more sustainable future. This research paper adds to the advancement of sustainability within higher education by providing insights into the assessment approaches for the incorporation of AI technologies. It achieves this by creating a matrix that links AI for the “Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)” area with the “Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS)”. The matrix and its metrics provide a structure for evaluating the progress and effectiveness of AI implementation in sustainability education. This study contributes to highlighting Artificial intelligence's role in advancing sustainability within the education sector and offers insights into enhancing the impact of sustainability education through AI interventions.
