Removing the Inclusions in Four-Strand Asymmetrical Tundish by Using a Crutch-Shaped Baffle

The tundishTundish structure is a very important factor to remove the inclusionsInclusions and unify the molten steel. In the condition of four-strand asymmetrical tundishAsymmetrical tundish form, there are many problems in Al-deoxidized steel, such as a large number of inclusionsInclusions and excessive inclusionInclusions size. In order to remove the inclusionsInclusions and increase the cleanliness of molten steel, the crutch-shaped baffleCrutch-shaped baffle was designed for the four-strand asymmetrical tundishAsymmetrical tundish. The numerical simulationNumerical simulation results showed that by applying the proposed baffle, the average residence time of the molten steel in the tundishTundish is increased by 43.1 s, the dead zone ratio is decreased by 3.4%, and the flow consistency among strands is apparently increased. Industrial experimentsIndustrial experiments showed that the excessive-sized inclusionsInclusions are eliminated and the inclusionInclusions number is decreased by 46.23% when adding the crutch-shaped baffleCrutch-shaped baffle in four-strand asymmetrical tundishAsymmetrical tundish. Therefore, the inclusionInclusions removal rate and the cleanliness of molten steel are greatly improved.
