Prognostication and Treatment-Limiting Decisions After Severe Traumatic Brain Injury
摘要
Prognostication in severe TBI remains a significant challenge, particularly when treatment-limiting decisions must be made. From the introduction of the Glasgow coma scale (GCS) in 1974 to the recent addition of serum biomarkers into predictive models, the use of prognostic factors to predict outcome in severe TBI patients has grown significantly. This chapter discusses the development of prognostication science in severe TBI and the complexity of treatment-limiting decisions in this heterogenous patient population.
