Seizure: Prophylaxis and Treatment in Acute Brain Injury
摘要
Prophylaxis for post-traumatic seizures is a current practice to avoid the morbidity and potential secondary brain injury associated with post-traumatic seizure development. The benefits and efficacy of this strategy must be weighed against the potential harm, cost, and side effects of the anticonvulsants. In this chapter, we will review the historical background for prophylaxis, present the available randomized and non-randomized data, and suggest guidelines for therapy.
