Methods to Determine the Flutter Point

We have seen the flutter calculation with the root locus technique in the Laplace domain, where the generalized aerodynamic force matrix was obtained with the analytical continuation and Roger approximation (see Chap. 35 ). We now introduce other flutter solution techniques that introduce various approximations of the generalized aerodynamic force matrix expressed in the Laplace domain. The k, \(k-E\) , \(p-k\) , non-iterative \(p-k\) , first-order g, second-order g, p, \(p-p\) , \(p-L\) , GAAM, and CV methods will be presented in detail. Theoretical comparison of \(p-k\) and g method will also be addressed.
