Becoming a Minister

We all have a received view of how the ministerial appointment process takes place. It is the televised trek of an individual politician along Downing Street, with shouts from journalists about that individual\s ministerial expectations. This form of appointment process occurs after UK general elections, or after a party leadership election which has provided a new leader and prime minister, or as part of a mid-term reshuffle by an incumbent prime minister.
