Periodontal Infections That May Have Endodontic Manifestations
摘要
This chapter describes primary periodontal lesions that may develop endodontic manifestations and present as ‘perio-endo’ lesions. Periodontal lesions develop as a result of a host response to microbial accumulation around the gingival tissues, resulting in inflammation and inflammatory mediators that give rise to destruction of the gingival connective tissue, periodontal ligament, alveolar bone and loss of the outer cementoblast layer.
