The Impact of Classroom Wall Colour Choice on Young Adult Students’ Learning Performance in Jeddah City’s Schools

Saudi Arabia has offered its citizens free education from elementary to university level since 1925, a policy that has contributed significantly to the country's progress. However, a study of middle schools in Jeddah reveals that the classrooms' wall colours are not ideally chosen. Research on the selection of wall colours has focused on the importance of colour choices in work, residential, and commercial spaces, but little attention has been paid to the impact of wall colours on young adult students in learning environments. As a result, Jeddah’s middle schools do not consider the colours that could boost their students’ learning performance. The primary objective of the study is to identify how wall colour choices affect the attention of young students in the classroom and investigate this phenomenon using qualitative and quantitative data collection methods to survey school students and interview their teachers. The study concludes with guidelines for choosing the best wall colours that will enrich and promote students' learning performance. The study's results are expected to raise awareness of the importance of wall colour choices in classrooms, especially in Jeddah’s schools, and contribute to future research on how wall colours in learning environments can significantly affect students' academic and psychological performance.
