Education for Sustainable Development in Higher Education Institutions

This paper presents a tool to facilitate the embedding of sustainability in engineering degree curricula. The tool is the Engineering Sustainability Competency Map of the EDINSOST2-SDG project. The map has been presented in previous publications, but this paper presents the most simplified version and the methodology followed to carry out the simplification. The map contains 29 learning outcomes related to sustainability that should be developed in all engineering degrees. The relationship of each of the learning outcomes with the Sustainable Development Goals is presented. In particular, the relationship with the targets defined by the United Nations in 2015 and with the learning objectives defined by UNESCO in 2017.
