A Comparative Study of Possible Development Scenarios of Floating Wind Power in Brazil, Colombia and Spain

Floating offshore wind offers unique opportunities for Brazil, Colombia and Spain since floating turbines can produce electricity further offshore and in deeper waters than bottom-fixed turbines. The objective of this paper is to present a methodology for a comparison of the potential development of floating wind at a commercial scale in these three countries. For this purpose, a method based on several steps has been considered: (1) Analysis of the main characteristics of the relevant/representative meta-ocean parameters of the area; (2) Analysis of the industrial value chain involved; (3) Analysis of the energy and industrial objectives and their lines of action to 2030 for the floating offshore wind.
