Data Analytics Case Studies in Maritime Technology

The application of statistical techniques is essential in all industries, even more so in the context of the current digital transformation of Industry 4.0 and 5.0 (to which is added the dimension of sustainability), in order to obtain valuable information about the facilities and processes, favoring the correct decision making. Among the technologies used in the process of digitization of the industry, data analytics stands out, of which several case studies related to marine technology, one of the strategic areas in Galicia, will be presented. Specifically, this work will describe the statistical techniques and procedures applied for the identification of anomalies and the automatic control of the transit time through the Expanded Panama Canal (EPC), the objective being the detection of learning patterns. On the other hand, the activity of the Joint Research Unit Navantia-Universidade da Coruña will be described, in particular the use of Digital Twin techniques.
