Influence of the Climate Change on the Port Facilities and It’s Resilience

Cuba, as an island located in the Caribbean, has developed part of its economy based fundamentally on tourism, including coast tourism, and marine tourism. For that purpose, new investments had to be undertaken, for the construction of new facilities and the repair of others like marines, shipyards, drydocks, boats, among others. It's necessary to keep moving with this process so the country could have a sustainable development of this sector. Any investment carried out will have to assure that no harm will be made to both the coasts and the marine ecosystem, since they are extremely vulnerable to threats like the climate change, pollution and the loss of biodiversity. The main goal of this work is to suggest the necessary criteria for the decision making in the conception and design of the new methods for the exploitation of the Cuban coasts, guaranteeing it's resilience and the one of communities nearby that have a strong dependence of the coasts. Working in such way will permit to achieve a constant prosperity of the touristic destinations and it's direct influence on the Cuban economy.
