Technological Alternatives for Sustainable River Mobility in Colombia

摘要

It is essential to analyze electromobility technological alternatives in the river sec-tor to contribute to the energy transition in Colombia. This analysis mainly aims to identify technologies that can improve energy efficiency and reduce green-house gas emissions in river transport systems. Therefore, the present study examines sixteen electric and hybrid propulsion systems and five eco-friendly vessels in detail. For this purpose, a qualitative analysis was carried out in which relevant aspects were evaluated, such as propulsive power, type of transport, use of fossil fuels, pollutant emissions, specialized infrastructure, implementation references, and associated costs. Subsequently, the feasibility of implementing these technologies in Colombia was analyzed, considering the technology readiness levels (TRL) and the associated risks in propulsion technologies and support infrastructure. In this way, a clear vision of the viable alternatives to be implemented in the country in the long, medium, or short term is obtained towards more sustainable and environmentally friendly river mobility.
