Design of a Fluvial Vessel to Response to Natural Disasters for the Ibero-American Pacific

摘要

The climatic and geographic characteristics of the American continent make it an ideal environment to house an overflowing nature, in which its rivers have played a very important role in the development of Iberoamérica. But quite often Mother Nature, climate change or mismanagement of river courses lead to catastrophes. Tragedies like Armero and Mocoa in Colombia or Carapongo in Peru show the violent side of this spectacular nature. Many of these disasters occur in the remote and disadvantaged interior regions, whose access by means other than the river is very difficult or non-existent. With this objective, the Light Logistics and Cabotage Support Ship (BALC-L) has been designed between the COTECMAR corporation and the Almirante Padilla Naval School (ENAP), which must provide logistic support through roll-on cargo and four 20-foot containers on its deck. Mission modules are the operational foundation of your design, allowing for dynamic changes to your deck to deal with each specific problem. This paper presents the characteristics of the ship's design, hybrid propulsion with minimal environmental impact, maneuverability and characteristics of the modules, with the main requirement of not exceeding one meter of draft in order to access the fluvial interior of the Pacific coast.
