Modelling the Hydrodynamic Response in Scale Ships Subjected to External Perturbations

  • Miguel J. Moreno

摘要

This study relates to the hydrodynamic response of scale ship models. Due to the particular interest of scale training centers, where maneuvers with scale ships are carried out, it is necessary to establish a methodology for scale ship design. The ITTC and the OMI have developed methodologies for ship design that have been validated through experimental trials; however, this study proposes a methodology based on analytical techniques. The objective is to establish a mathematical model and analysis strategy that will allow, through an analytical solution, to describe the hydrodynamic behavior of manned scale ships, enabling design strategies focused on accomplishing the desired operative requirements. The proposed methodology will apply complex analysis and conformal mapping. The Schwarz-Christoffel mapping is a useful intermediate step that allows for complicated flow problems to be solved as problems with simpler geometry, in order to improve the techniques of characterization of problems in fluids mechanics.
