Intelligent Automated Solar Shading System Based on Internet of Things Technologies

摘要

The reduction of global energy reserves leads to the need of implementation of energy saving solutions that can improve living conditions, while reducing energy costs. Automated solar shadings can be part of these solutions, acting as smart systems that can adjust the conditions in the interior of a building, based on the weather conditions and the user preferences. The presented system of this work consists of an electrically operated automatic shading system consisting of aluminum louvers. Integrated sensors provide all the necessary information regarding the internal and external conditions, such as temperature, humidity, light intensity and ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Based on those parameters, the louvers can automatically adjust their tilt to achieve the desired conditions preferred by their users. All the necessary modules are fitted in 3D-printed weatherproof enclosures, ensuring their durability to weather conditions, as well as their easy integration in existing or new installations. The system takes advantage of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, enabling its remote operation and settings adjustment. As a result, each solar shading system is wirelessly connected to a network and can be controlled either individually or as a group.
