Introduction
摘要
The US prison system continues to require the attention of both scholars and practitioners. US approaches to reduce recidivism and reform prison institutions have largely failed. The US prison and more extensive criminal justice system is in crisis. Researchers, activists, and social scientists have worked for years to affect policy changes within the criminal justice system. Various educational and vocational programs have been instituted in attempts to reduce recidivism and reform the prison system. This book outlines and describes two separate prison garden programs that work at the intersection of clinical sociology and food justice with the overarching goal of reducing recidivism and affecting change through horticultural education and healthy food.
