Students’ Reluctance to Enroll in Education Majors in Palestinian Universities in the Light of the Tendency Towards Technological Majors After Covid-19

This study aims to identify the underlying factors contributing to the reluctance among Palestinian students to enroll in education majors in light of the tendency towards technological majors especially after the COVID-19 period. It also aims to anticipate if there are any statistically significant differences in the average reasons for the students’ reluctance to enroll in education majors in Palestinian universities in the Gaza governorate, based on the variables of the academic program (Diploma or bachelor), university and gender. In order to achieve the study results, the study adopts the descriptive analytical approach. The study population is comprised of students enrolled in the Palestinian universities located within the Gaza governorates, namely the Islamic University, the University College of Applied Sciences, and Al-Aqsa University. The study sample comprised a total of 197 males and females. The study finds that there are no statistically significant differences in the average reasons for the reluctance of students to enroll in education majors in Palestinian universities in the Gaza governorate, based on the study variables. The study further finds that the provision of employment opportunities for graduates of education majors, coupled with encouragement towards self-employment, stands as a crucial objective. The study recommends raising awareness through various media channels and electronic platforms represents a viable approach. It also recommends employing technology and modern education strategies in students’ training in schools, coupled with encouragement towards the teaching profession as a promising endeavour.
