Meningococcal Diseases in Travellers

Today, the importance of easily transmissible and serious diseases has increased due to the widespread human movements such as travel and migration. Invasive meningococcal diseases remain a considerable public health problem, causing small clusters in industrialized countries and large outbreaks in developing countries. Since meningococcal diseases are endemic in many countries, international travelers may transport the bacterial agent during their journeys and spread it across the countries. Herein, we aimed to summarize meningococcal diseases and travel-associated infections.
