摘要

Historically, the prevailing orthodoxy regarding the management of metastatic prostate cancer held that metastatic disease is best treated with systemic therapy, typically androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) with or without chemotherapy, and the role of localized therapies directed at treating the primary disease in the context of disseminated cancer is best avoided. This has been challenged somewhat by the finding that there is a significant overall survival (OS) benefit in men with low-volume metastatic disease who receive radiotherapy to the prostate (Parker et al., PLoS Med 19(6):e1003998, 2022; Cornford et al., Eur Urol 79(2):263–282, 2021).
