Robot-Assisted Radical Prostatectomy: Anterior Approach

The anterior approach of the robotic radical prostatectomy is the most popular worldwide. This chapter describes step by step the technic of the author who performs with his team da Vinci prostatectomies since January 2003. The chapter is illustrated with pictures issued from a single case and are corelated to macroscopic and microscopic histopathological views, in order for a better understanding of the technic. Different conditions during anterior approach as inguinal hernia which impair the surgical protocol and require an adapted procedure are also discussed.
