Turnaround Your Thoughts Searching for Intelligent Solutions to Overcome Turnaround Challenges

At Saudi Aramco Khurais Producing Department (KhPD), the T&I Team handles the planning and execution activities of all Major T&Is, which are explicitly (5) Oil Trains, (3) Gas Trains, (4) Crude Oil Storage Tanks and (1) COGEN Plant at Khurais Area and (2) Oil Plants at Central Arabia Area and (1) Satellite GOSP at Mazalij Area with a total number of (458) equipment. In addition, the T&I Team handles the planning and execution activities of a total number of (178) Utilities Standalone equipment T&Is hence the total number of equipment which are handled by the T&I Team is (636) equipment between Major T&Is and Standalone equipment T&Is. During three consecutive years of T&Is period (2021–2023), KhPD has faced many challenges that impacted the T&I Team performance during Major T&Is Execution Stage. The Team has adopted and capitalized on the applicable lessons learned captured from Major T&Is and has developed T&I Maintenance Strategy to enhance subsequent T&Is in term of planning and execution. Basically, KhPD Turnaround Maintenance Strategy undertaking to boost up T&I workers’ moral and energy and make a friendly environment to maximize Turnaround works productivity. Also, reduce logistic, simulate actual internals structure before building, reduce the time and efforts of vessels internals removal and installation activities was another part of this strategy. Thus, KhPD T&I Team built the know-how strategy within KhPD Facilities and has innovated intelligent solutions and applied several best practices which subsequently resulted in a dramatic improvement on KhPD Major T&Is and in term of compliance with Saudi Aramco Corporate T&I Manual requirements; KhPD T&I compliance score has been improved significantly.
