摘要

Spalling fault is one kind of common faults in helical gear systems. Time varying mesh stiffness (TVMS) is preferred to be calculated to investigate the characteristics aroused by spalling fault. A new calculation model for TVMS calculation for helical gear pair with spalling fault considering gear installation eccentricity error is proposed in this paper. With the proposed model, the helical gear pair is firstly simplified as several spur gears by a slicing method. Then, the meshing point locations are updated by considering installation eccentricity. Finally, the TVMS with spalling fault is calculated by the potential energy method. Results show that the installation eccentricity will make the TVMS attach a sinusoidal fluctuation with the same rotation period as the propeller shaft, and also result in phase differences to TVMS of gears with spalling fault. By changing the helix angle of the gear, the influence of spalling fault on the TVMS of helical gears with different helix angles was inquired.
