Potential of RFID Technology Applied in the Hospital Environment—Perspective of Maintenance and Asset Management

Asset management and maintenance management are two particularly important areas for industries that rely on equipment and infrastructure for their operation. With Industry 4.0 there was a significant evolution in the use of technologies, RFID technology being one of them. In the context of asset management, this evolution facilitated the objective of optimizing maintenance management, thus allowing organizations to be more efficient and productive. The transition from Industry 4.0 to 5.0 has brought new challenges, including concerns about sustainability and the social aspect of technology use, but also opportunities, especially in areas such as automation and artificial intelligence. This article intends to relate the concepts of asset management and maintenance management in a context of transition from industry 4.0 to 5.0., focusing on the use of RFID technology in asset management in hospital facilities.
