Fluid Mechanism Analysis of Insulin Pump Set Failure Based on Power Bond Graph
摘要
Insulin pump is an essential equipment for patients with diabetes in insulin therapy. Insulin pump set failures such as leakage, and blockage, are prone to result in ketoacidosis. In this study, the failure mechanism above of insulin pump set is investigated based on power bond graph. Firstly, a power bond graph of insulin pump set is developed to describe insulin's fluid mechanism in the paradigm connector, flexible pipeline and output rigid needle. Secondly, the failure mechanism model of insulin pump is established to explore the effects of the failures above on insulin fluid in the pump set. Thirdly, the calculation and simulation test is carried out by AMEsim. The results show that leakage failure of the insulin pump set causes a drop in pressure and a decrease in flow rate, while the blockage failure causes an increase in the pressure and a decrease in the flow rate. It is worth noting that as a basal insulin delivery, blockage failure has little impact on the insulin pump set, while as a bolus insulin delivery, the impact is significant.
