摘要

In order to better understand the COVID-19 pandemic evolution in Brazilian territory, this paper presents a study on the resources acquired through public bidding by public administration during eighteen months as well as the number of COVID-19 cases registered during the same period. A web-scrapper was implemented in order to automate the data gathering from a public federal database (“Portal da Transparência”). The data considered were the items acquired (vaccines, COVID-19 tests, masks, and Social Aid), the amount of money spent on each one of them and the related federal government institution linked to a given ministry. The data was organized chronologically and geographically according to the twenty-five states plus the Federal District, five regions (North, Northeast, Southeast, Midwest and South regions) and each one of the seventeen ministries. The number of COVID-19 cases is also presented according to each state and listed alongside the expanses, allowing a correlation between each item considered and its impact on the COVID-19 pandemic.
