Challenges in the Application of Health Technology Replacement Model in Colombian Hospitals: A Case Study
摘要
This article describes a methodology applied in a high complexity level health care Institution in Colombia to develop a systematic replacement planning for medical technology, this planning was developed through three stages: analysis of the medical equipment documentation, the second stage involved a reference process with other models implemented both in the world and in Colombia and the last was apply the model to the obtain the level of obsolescence of medical equipment in the institution. The principal result was to obtain the investment that the institution has to make in medical equipment in the first year and we can conclude that adding parameters like equipment condition and performance tests of medical equipment in the replacement models can improve the issues related to the lack of reliable information on the Health Technology Management systems. This addition makes possible an objective evaluation and to determine the real functional status of the medical equipment through inspections and tests.
