Case Study I: Key Concepts and Approach

  • Sofia Malamatidou

摘要

This chapter introduces the first case study, which focuses on tourist behaviour, that is, how tourists are expected to behave and engage with the destination, examined through an analysis of verbs where the tourist is the subject/agent, which can provide information about the tourism phase that each society is experiencing, that is, as tourism evolves over time as societies transform. The chapter begins by examining the idea of the tourism phase and why it is important, before explaining how exactly verbs have been identified in the TrAIL corpus, and the detailed methodology for their analysis.
