Foreword

The foreword explains the motivation for this book. Too often, research methods are racialized and assigned to various racial groups based on myths propagated by early mathematicians. Those of European descent often align with quantitative methods, while qualitative methods often align with critical race research and studies about disenfranchised populations. However, history shows that mathematical reasons originated from Africa, then co-oped by the Greeks. The miseducation that reflects the erroneous and inaccurate origin of math disenfranchises many Black and brown scholars who have been told that math, statistics, and quantitative reasoning is for and by European scholars. However, when legislatures make policies and create laws, they often rely on research from large samples; such large sample sizes tend to support quantitative research. Hence, this Foreword provides detailed information about the origins of math. Quantitative reasoning is not the master’s tools but tools and logic that initially emerged from the African and South American continents.
