Types of Aligner Systems Available

As alluded to in the earlier parts of this textbook, the use of aligners has grown exponentially since their launch. It is therefore only a natural consequence that there is a vast array of aligner options to choose from. Manufacturers were quick to adopt the technology whilst companies have been trying to reach the consumer directly and individual practitioners have also been trying to provide them in-house. This chapter gives an overview of the many types of aligners available; however, Align Technology, Inc., Invisalign products remain the most dominant in the market with the highest sales volumes, marketing expenditure, research contribution and brand awareness.
