Clinical Management of Hybrid Approaches with Aligners and Fixed Appliances, Sectional Lingual Appliances and Mini-implants

摘要

Having established that clear aligners have nowadays become a stablemate of contemporary orthodontic treatment, the successive natural step would be to increase their scope and improve their efficiency. One of the ways that this can be achieved is by combining it to other well-established modalities within the orthodontic specialty and enhancing their range of potential tooth movements. This approach is commonly referred to as a hybrid approach. Clear aligners can be combined to more traditional fixed appliances or aspects of fixed appliance therapy, lingual fixed appliances and orthodontic mini-implants (OMIs), the latter also referred to as orthodontic mini-screws. The ultimate aim for a clinician using clear aligners is to be able to fully predict the treatment outcomes whilst using this technique and be able to address all the features that a malocclusion presents with.
