Clinical Management of Interceptive and Teenage Cases

In very similar lines to adults, provision of treatment for children and teenagers using clear aligners has also increased. It has become more commonplace over the last decade and certainly less controversial. Their availability and easy access by clinicians has rendered their uptake much more tangible. Customised aligner treatment for both children and teenagers has provided allowance for a transition period between the deciduous and adult dentition phases of dental development. It has also replicated the use of palatal expansion devices and functional appliances in conventional fixed appliance therapy with the use of mandibular advancement (MA) in the case of the latter when using Invisalign®. This chapter explains the advantages, discusses the techniques available, and the possibilities of treating teenagers with clear aligners.
