Clinical Management of Anterior Open Bite Cases

  • Stefan Abela

摘要

The prevalence of anterior open bites (AOBs) in malocclusions can be as high as 11% amongst an adult population (Ng et al., Int J Paediatr Dent 18:78–83, 2008), whilst in children and adolescents of up to 16 years of age, the prevalence could be even higher at 16.52% (Avrella et al., Eur Arch Paediatr Dent 23:355–364, 2022). Anterior open bites are frequently reported by patients to be associated with speech and masticatory difficulties. These prevalence rates together with the challenging nature that anterior open bites present to any clinician, renders treatment modalities to correct these types of malocclusions extremely important. This chapter will focus on the techniques that can be implemented with clear aligners to manage closure of anterior open bite successfully.
