Element 8: Communication—Efficient and Effective Online Communication Techniques

Clear, engaging, and motivational communication strategies to humanize the online learning environment. Not only is communication a key to motivating students and guiding them through the process of online learning but as a professor, you are likely the primary (and sometimes only) contact that the student has with the academic institution. It is up to you to support and enhance the student’s learning experience. This element describes the how, when, and why to communicate with your online students to both guide them through the learning process and to allow them the freedom to become self-directed and exploratory.
