  • Athanasios Papathanasopoulos

摘要

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly altered worldwide media consumption trends. The goal of this study is to determine how much the pandemic influenced media consumption in Greece and to investigate if the pandemic played a crucial role in the rise of streaming services. Quantitative data from various sources were analyzed as part of the approach. According to the data, TV was the most popular medium at the beginning of the pandemic and social restriction measures. However, following the end of the second lockdown in Greece, streaming platform usage accelerated, with 48% of all respondents reporting weekly usage. Additionally, a sizable portion of the Greek audience claimed that they never used traditional media outlets, such as newspapers and television, indicating a shift in media consumption from traditional to digital. This study aims to shed light on how Greece’s media consumption habits changed because of the COVID-19 outbreak and the rising popularity of streaming services.
