Role of Information Technology in the Efficiency of HR Processes in Educational Institutions: A Case Study of Greece

The objective of this study is to determine the role of Information technology (IT) in the efficiency of HR processes in educational institutions. The major focus was on how utilizing information technology in human resource management can help to enhance efficiency of HR planning, selection and recruiting of employees, and evaluation and compensation in education institutions. The study used an exploratory research design. A systematic questionnaire was answered by a sample of 120 management, senior, junior, and contract employees from four educational institutions in Greece. The findings indicate a strong positive correlation between the use of IT and general efficiency of HR processes that include: selection and recruiting, human resource planning, assessment, and remuneration. This demonstrates how well Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is used in business human resource management. It is important for education institutions in Greece to enhance routine utilization of information systems to enable proper interactions between human resources and the various departments, which could increase organizational efficiency. The use of ICT ensures the effectiveness of human resource management.
